1) Before the surgery, our surgeons will talk to you in detail to understand your needs and expectations. A detailed eye examination will then be conducted before a refraction is performed by our experienced optometrists. Subsequently, the dimensions and properties of the untreated eye using techniques such as wavefront analysis and topographical mapping using instruments such as a topographer will be performed. After this our surgeons will discuss with you on your suitability for surgery and which surgical techniques is preferred.
2) An anesthetic eyedrop will be instilled before the surgery so that the surgery will be painless. During the process of LASIK surgery, a special precision laser (Femtosecond laser) will create an incredibly thin and accurate flap of corneal tissue on the surface of the eye.
3) The surgeon will then raise the corneal flap and use an excimer laser to sculpt the bed of the cornea to match the dimensions determined previous to the surgery.
4) The corneal flap is then replaced and, within minutes, natural forces hold the corneal flap in place. This is when the LASIK eye surgery is completed.
5) In just a few hours after the eye surgery, the surface of the cornea starts to grow over the cut edge of the corneal flap in order to seal it into position. Healing is complete within a week or so after LASIK treatment.
